A word from your guide, Paris Paraschos

My name is Paris Papachristou Paraschos, I’m 44 years young and I’ve been visiting the magical island of Samothraki for 29 years. I’ve been involved in sports since I was 8 years old and over the years, experimented with different sports to see what fits me best. I ended up in mountain running and especially long-distance races. I have several races to my credit, the highlight of which was the 270 km race that took place last May.

Samothraki adventure is an idea that came to me during my last visit to the island. During this visit, I attended the Breath and Life Mastery Rebirthing Training and I had a powerful vision. This vision inspired me to create a hiking seminar that would take place on the beautiful and sacred island of Samothraki.

I believed that the natural beauty of the island, combined with the physical and mental challenges of hiking, would be the perfect setting for people to reconnect with themselves and find personal growth, empowerment and resilience.  

Participants will experience the island’s stunning scenery while also challenging themselves, physically and emotionally, to dive into a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them; and to keep this life energy source after completing the seminar.

Ηistory of Samothraki

Samothrace, a Greek island located in the Aegean Sea, has a long and rich history. Archaeological evidence shows that the island was inhabited as early as the Neolithic period. In the 8th century BCE, the island was a center of worship for the Great Gods, the most important of which was the god of the winds, Aeolus. The Sanctuary of the Great Gods, located on the island, was a major religious center and pilgrimage site in the ancient world.

During the Hellenistic period, the island was ruled by various kingdoms and was an important center of trade. In the 2nd century BCE, the island was conquered by the Romans and became a Roman province. The Sanctuary of the Great Gods continued to be an important religious center during this time, attracting visitors from all over the Roman Empire.

In the Middle Ages, the island was ruled by various Byzantine and Crusader states before falling under Ottoman control in the 15th century. The island remained under Ottoman rule until the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913, when it became part of Greece.

In the 20th century, the island was the site of significant archaeological excavations, which have revealed many important artifacts and structures from its ancient past, including the famous Nike of Samothrace statue.
